Code of Ethics

Members of the Saddlers’ and Harness Makers’ Association of Australia Inc. (SHMAA) undertake to abide by the Association’s Code of Ethics.

Wherever you see the SHMAA Logo, it is your guarantee that you are dealing with a current Member of the Saddlers’ and Harness Makers’ Association of Australia, and that you are assured of a quality Australian made Equestrian product.

  • The Member shall not engage in any practices that could be damaging to the Association or to the General Public, or that could discredit the Saddlers’ and Harness Makers’ Association of Australia Inc.
  • The Member shall not discriminate in any business activities and shall not speak disparagingly of the work or product of any other Member unless circumstances demand affirmative action.
  • The Member shall abide by the current Constitution of the Saddlers’ and Harness Makers’ Association of Australia Inc.
  • The Member shall adhere to the Standards relating to both Safety and Quality of Saddlery.
  • The Member shall endeavour to use only appropriate materials of the best quality when manufacturing and repairing Saddlery and Tack.
  • The Member shall specify the services to be performed and conditions of sale, including product information, quotations, warranties and guarantees.
  • The Member shall guarantee that all goods advertised and sold are as stated.
  • No Member shall allow personal interest or any belief, commitment, payment, gift or benefit to undermine their fairness or diligence in providing the best possible Service both to the Public and to the general Membership of the Association.
  • The Member shall observe all Federal, State and Local Government Laws relating to the workplace.
